Laura holds a Diploma in Professional Music & Performance from Berklee College of Music, and is pursuing a B.A. in Childhood Psychology from Bay Path University. Before coming to Oak Meadow, Laura had a number of jobs working with children. She was a children’s musical writer and composer at Immigration Family Services Institute, Keys-For-Kids, and Kidstock Creative Theater. She was awarded four Massachusetts Cultural Council Grants in 2017 and 2018 for her songwriting workshop, ‘Express Yourself! Songwriting,’ an expressive songwriting workshop for teens in under-served communities. She was an Admissions Coordinator for international travel for students and worked as an Early Intervention Behavior Therapist for children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorders). Laura enjoys working at Oak Meadow because she has felt right at home right from the start. “Our families are so beautifully diverse, and the students so incredibly bright. Kindness is truly lived by every person I come into contact with at the Oak Meadow. That kindness nurtures so much growth and creativity day-in and day-out, and great feats of learning are achieved every day. I think Oak Meadow is a truly magical community!” Outside of teaching, Laura enjoys gardening, cooking, yoga and being in nature. She has traveled to Ireland, England, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Singapore — and hopes to keep adding to the list.
